Tura – Headscarf for tail cushion

NAME: Headscarf for tail cushion

DESCRIPTION: Factory cotton canvas with a black background and a white tiny pattern.
When rolled up and tied at the waist, it served to widen the hips and round the buttocks, while preventing the skirts from slipping down.
The majority of Hungarian folk costumes were considered beautiful for their vigorous appearance, indicating good health and hard work, which meant that the young person should have a ‘flat belly and round bottom’. To achieve the ideal of a rounded hip and back, women not only wore an ordinary headscarf with a soft fabric, but also sewed a separate garment, the tail cushion.

  • Size: 77 x 72 cm
